Reference: a new website for a family farming business
Brief
A family business that presses hay and straw into large bales had no website. Customers found it through recommendations and a phone number passed from farmer to farmer. The owner wanted a simple website where a farmer can see at a glance what the business does, what it costs and how to get in touch. No online store, no complicated admin, and above all easy to read on a phone, because customers open the site out in the field.
Client: F., production (hay and straw baling) · website: lisovaniod…cz
Solution
- Four pages instead of ten: home, services, gallery and contact. Nothing the customer has to search for.
- The price right in the main heading. A farmer wants to know the price per bale and what it includes. It's the first sentence on the site, not an item hidden in a price list.
- Photos and video of real work in the gallery and on the services page. Seeing the baler at work convinces better than a description.
- Contact in one tap: phone numbers dial straight from a phone, and the Contact button sits in the header of every page.
- WordPress with a lightweight theme, no bloated page builder. The owner edits text and photos himself.
What the website does
- Responsive layout: on a phone, the photo, the heading with the price and the Contact us button are visible without sideways scrolling.
- HTTPS with an automatically renewed certificate, TLS 1.3 and HTTP/2.
- Server security headers (6 of the 6 our Website Checker looks at) and a hidden PHP version.
- Up-to-date WordPress, a sitemap for search engines and a correctly set robots.txt.
- One website address: the www variant redirects to the main domain automatically.
Result
Measured after launch with our Website Checker and in the browser:
- server response around 240 ms,
- the home page loads in about 1.4 s on a computer and under 1 s on a phone,
- compression, HTTP/2 and only two scripts, no mixed content,
- a health record with no critical findings.
Instead of a single phone number, the business now has an address it can send to every prospect and put on its business card and machines. A new customer reads the price and terms on their own and calls with a specific order.
Takeaway
A small business doesn't need a big website. It needs a website that answers three questions on a phone within five seconds: what you do, what it costs and how to reach you. Everything else is a bonus.
